Probs compiling if prgs under linux 2.0.0

I'm having problems compiling any of the if* programs under Linux
2.0.0 - It's looking for a file ndbm.h - Eugene tells me that this should
be installed, but may be improperly installed. Despite hunting high and
low, the only file I can find which even closely matches it, is the
gdbm.h file. Eugene says this isn't suitable.
Has anyone compiled ifcico in particular, under the Linux
2.0.0 operating system? If they have a functional version, could
aforementioned person attach a copy to me....??? Please???
Further on that, does anyone know where the Slackware Linux 2.0.0
ndmb.h file is put????
